Obama on the “Christian Nation”

Jonathan Rowe on Jul 30th 2008

I’m still voting Libertarian. But Obama’s thoughts on the “Christian Nation” are spot on. Sadly, I doubt in his heart of hearts John “the Constitution established the United States of America as a Christian nation” McCain differs at all with Obama’s position. McCain like most politicians is a nominal Christian. It’s just he needs to pander to the religious right to get their support.

I agree Jonathan, it can be extraordinarily tempting to vote Libertarian.

But on sober reflection, I have to conclude that a Democrat can do far more to advance liberty’s interests than can any Libertarian candidate for the White House.

For I think you’ll acknowledge, it won’t be a nominee of the Libertarian Party who’ll get to fill the next vacancy on the United States Supreme Court.

Yeah I know. But mine is just a protest vote to protest how big government has grown.

Obama’s invoking Joshua, the butcher of Jericho and Ai, as a model to follow is at least the equal of McCain’s religious pandering.
