Hat Trick

Jason Kuznicki on Dec 15th 2004

I’ve just been blogrolled by Liberty & Power, a prominent libertarian blog. Noted contributors include David Beito, Chris Sciabarra, and Wendy McElroy. One of them has even suggested that I might guest-blog there in the near future.

Almost simultaneously, someone I don’t know has suggested that I should get a Koufax Award for Best Writing (scroll down). “The Koufax Awards are named for Sandy Koufax, one of the greatest left handed pitchers of all time. They are intended to honor the best of the left of blogtopia…”

It’s not a formal nomination yet, and frankly I don’t deserve one. I’ve tried my hardest, and I’m simply not a leftist. But there you have it. (And suddenly, a slogan leaps to mind. “Positive Liberty: We put the ‘liberal’ in ‘classical liberal.’)

Now consider that I’ve also guest-blogged for Paul Musgrave–an avowed conservative–and you might conclude that I have no political principles whatsoever.

Really, though, this interplay is precisely what I had hoped to achieve all along. I’d wanted to engage with many different viewpoints, to examine critically many different ideologies–including my own–and to transcend as much as possible the predominant point-at-something-with-outrage style of blogging.

And it all seems to be working. Yes indeed, it’s a good day here at Positive Liberty.
